Local Food Overview
Most of the links to your left will take you to mixed-media highlights of local food work I was involved with in Cleveland 2008-2011.
More specifically, those pages highlight various things my teams and I accomplished with PolyCultures: Food Where We Live, the Cleveland-Cuyahoga County Food Policy Coalition, and Case Western Reserve University's FreshLink project.
Here are some thoughts on that work and what I learned:
One of the critical issues facing our planet is ensuring that all people, regardless of background and means, have access to healthy food that’s raised in harmony with nature. Doing that kind of work in my economically-troubled but reviving-itself hometown turned out to be more meaningful to me than I could have imagined.
I integrated knowledge and skills from my technology development background, my experience cooking in fine dining restaurants, and my interdisciplinary “Sound & Perception” degree. More importantly, I became more effective at collaborating with small teams to achieve significant results – such as creating the documentary PolyCultures and sharing it with an estimated 10,000+ people via community screenings, film festivals, DVDs, and airings on PBS affiliates.
